Masanao Yajima (Statistician, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Boston University)
Dr. Yajima is a data scientist with research interests in multivariate analysis, hierarchical modeling, multiple comparison, statistical computing, missing data imputation, network modeling, bioinformatics, large data, and research reproducibility. He is also key faculty in the MSSP program, a statistical consulting service for the BU community housed in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics. Integrated with the MS in Statistical Practice (MSSP) program and the PhD program in Statistics, MSSP Consulting offers services to roughly 50 clients/collaborators per year, coordinated through a multi-tiered organizational infrastructure and implemented using best-practice principles of reproducible research throughout. He is contributing to the design of version 2.0 of our smartphone application, NoiseScore and is taking the lead on developing Community Noise Lab’s NoiseScore Community Noise Metric. He holds a bachelor’s degree in policy studies with a focus on environmental policy from Kwansei Gakuin University in Japan, a master’s degree in statistics from Columbia University, and a doctorate degree in statistics from UCLA.
